For years I’ve been a Starbucks devotee. Then my favorite location closed for renovations. I went in search of a new coffee shop and discovered Foxtail Coffee Co.
The interior is warm and welcoming. There’s lots of wood, topped off with industrial-looking finishes, and some pops of color in a mural on the wall and green plants scattered about.

The menu had similar choices to Starbucks. Oddly, I’ve gotten away from coffee and like a nice hot chocolate to sip while I do some writing (or staring out the window while I contemplate writing). I’ve been there twice now. The first time, I had a small latte. $5.20. As a friend of mine said, “I could make a pot for that price.” I found it too strong and somewhat bitter. The Goldilocks experience was the hot chocolate from the second visit – just right.
The place is new so, right now at least, the staff is extra-friendly and motivated to make you feel welcome. I’ve seen those traits fly out the door at other places after a while. I’m hoping for the best. In the meantime, I find it to be a nice, if costly, coffee shop.

There are 51 locations throughout Florida so check the website for your nearest location. Each is slightly different. Some offer both take-out and delivery but not all. The Carrollwood location where I went, is new and right now, does not offer delivery.
